Who We Are

Gymea Lily Psychotherapy Centre is a psychotherapy and psychological practice located in Kirrawee in the Sutherland Shire, dedicated to providing thoughtful, individualised care for children, adolescents, and adults.

We offer a range of psychological interventions, including cognitive behavioural therapies (such as CBT, DBT, ACT and Schema Therapy), while also recognising the importance of understanding the emotional, relational, and developmental factors that contribute to psychological wellbeing. Our clinicians work collaboratively with clients to address challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and emotional distress.

Our aim is to provide a centre of excellence where clients can access high-quality, personalised treatment that is responsive to their individual needs. We value the importance of offering treatment that is flexible, comprehensive, and guided by clinical expertise.

Gymea Lily Psychotherapy Centre also has a special interest in long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This approach provides an opportunity to explore deeper emotional experiences, recurring patterns, relationships, and aspects of oneself that may not be easily understood through symptom-focused treatment alone. Long-term psychotherapy can help people develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and lasting psychological change.

For children, we offer specialist play therapy services in a dedicated therapeutic playroom, in a wet play therapy- sand tray equipped play room as well as in an enclosed yard with our edible landscapes and veggie garden (some kids associate being in trouble when they have to go into a room with a grown-up that is why we may ask their parents to work with them outside). Through play, children can express feelings, experiences, and concerns that may be difficult to communicate verbally. We work with children requiring more intensive or specialised therapeutic support, while collaborating closely with parents and caregivers.

In addition to individual therapy, we offer group analysis/psychotherapy. Group psychotherapy provides a unique opportunity to explore relationships and personal growth within a supportive setting, while also offering a more financially accessible pathway to longer-term therapeutic work.

At Gymea Lily Psychotherapy Centre, we are committed to creating a welcoming and reflective therapeutic environment, where humans big and small can feel understood, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Acknowledgement Of Country

At Gymea Lily Psychotherapy Centre, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and gather—the D’harawal people of the Sutherland Shire. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who visit our service.

We recognise the enduring connection that the D’harawal people have to Country, culture, and community—a connection that has never been ceded. This land has always been, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

The Gymea Lily plant, known as Kai’Mia in the D’harawal language, is a towering and resilient native flower that holds great cultural and spiritual significance. It is a symbol of strength, renewal, and excelling.

Inspired by the Kai’Mia, we honour the stories and wisdom of the land and seek to create a space of healing, respect, and growth.
