About
Angie is a Clinical Psychologist (Registrar) who works with individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. She brings a thoughtful, culturally aware, and deeply reflective approach to therapy, supporting clients to better understand themselves and create meaningful change.
Angie has completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Wollongong. Her research examined the mechanisms of change in adolescent male mental health literacy interventions. She integrates this strong research background into her clinical work.
Angie’s work is grounded in psychodynamic, attachment, and relational approaches, with a strong interest in how early experiences shape our inner world, relationships, and sense of self. She works with clients experiencing anxiety, trauma, identity concerns, relational difficulties, life transitions, and personality vulnerabilities, and has a particular interest in supporting young people navigating emotional and behavioural challenges.
Her style is warm, collaborative, and client-centred. Angie draws flexibly from a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and narrative approaches, tailoring her work to each person’s needs, goals, and pace.
Angie has a longstanding commitment to mental health advocacy. Originally from Malaysia, she began this work as a teenager, including authoring a children’s poetry book on autism that was recognised in local media and by government leaders. This early passion continues to shape her interest in culturally responsive and community-informed care.
Having lived and worked across Malaysia, the United States, and Australia, Angie brings a rich cross-cultural perspective to her practice. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, Malay, Hokkien, and Japanese, and is dedicated to creating an inclusive, respectful space for clients from diverse backgrounds.
Her academic achievements have been recognised through multiple awards and scholarships, including a full Medical Research Future Fund Scholarship and international academic honours. During her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, she was selected as one of only three featured students in her cohort for academic excellence and community engagement. Angie offers a reflective and supportive therapeutic space where clients can explore their experiences, build insight, and move towards lasting emotional growth.
Outside of her work, she enjoys writing, reading, learning, and caring for her ever-growing collection of houseplants.
Angie will be on extended leave from July 2026.
